Sunscreen is a very important part of every skin care routine. Irrespective of the type of skin you have, you cannot do without a sunscreen lotion or cream. When you go out in the sun, your skin is exposed to UV radiation, which can lead to premature aging and also skin cancer. Therefore, applying sunscreen before you step out is very crucial for your overall health.

When you go shopping for a sunscreen, you must have noticed that all sunscreen skin care products have a SPF label. SPF tells you the length of time you can expose your sunscreen-protected skin to UVB rays. For example, if a sunscreen is labeled as SPF 15, it will protect your skin from the harmful effects of sun for 300 minutes.

When To Apply Sunscreen
So what is the best time to apply a sunscreen lotion? You should apply sunscreen atleast once a day. Before you step out of your home make sure that you have applied a sunscreen. If you are going to be working in the sun, you should always have a sunscreen lotion handy. Apply it on your face, neck, and any other uncovered body part.

Moisturizer
If you are using a sunscreen it does not mean that you can forget the moisturizer. After you have applied a sunscreen it is very essential that you also apply a moisturizer. Sunscreen will protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun and the moisturizer will keep your skin smooth and supple.

Read The Labels Before You Buy
There are many types of sunscreen lotions available in the market. Choosing the right SPF depends on the color of your skin and also on how long you are going to be out in the sun. Make sure that you read the labels very carefully before you buy a sunscreen for your skin care. Some sunscreen lotions offer protection only against the UVB rays, while others offer protection against both UVB and UVA. You should also make sure that the sunscreen that you buy is suitable for your skin type. So if you have an oily skin you should buy a sunscreen made for oily skins.

Sunscreens do not cost much and offer one of the best ways of protecting your skin from the sun. Besides using a sunscreen you should take care to cover yourself properly before going out in the sun. If it is possible, you should avoid the sun between 11 AM to 2 PM. Do not overexpose yourself to the sun. When you step out make sure that you are wearing sunglasses. Sunglasses will protect your eyes and the delicate skin around them from the sun. Besides following these suggestions, you should eat right, exercise, and follow a proper skin care routine to maintain a healthy skin.
